Do you think that in order to be a true fan of metal, you need to listen to older bands?

might as well give the old stuff a shot, even if its different than what youre used to. and you would do better if you listened to bands that are better as well as newer. i know every person loves their own taste but i could see why your friends could make fun of you from the bands you listen to. plus not all the older stuff is soft. try listening to some early black metal.
