If I want to coat my cabinets after painting them what should I cote them with?

I just sanded my cabinets primed (2 times) and painted with a satin paint. The finish looks good but I am afraid of the paint fading if I were to wash it (if I had to rub the area hard enough or if the spilled item was sticky). I want to cote this with something that will protect the surface a little more. The paint on the walls is also satin but this is painted on drywall thus does not seem to face or come off like the paint on the cabinets appears to. Would a polyurethane work? Please let me know some insight. Thanks!
