In the near future, I'll have to drive the company car as part of my voluntary work.?

It's an estate car with a 2 litre engine and manual transmission. The car I currently drive is automatic. I've been for a test drive in a 1.6 Renault laguna and when I was about to drive off, the engine stalled. How do you think I'll cope with the estate car? Any tips or suggestions?
